Grey Squirrels are one of our most frequently seen mammals. They are not native to the UK and were brought here from America in the late 19th century.

They live predominantly in trees and woodland but are frequent visitors to many gardens. They are most active during the day and can be seen at any time of year, although are less active during winter.

Squirrels are omnivorous. They predominantly eat nuts, seeds and berries, but sometimes also take birds eggs and nestlings.
